Spring Hydrant Flushing

Annual spring flushing of the water system

The Authority flushes fire hydrants each spring to remove sediment from the distribution system, verify hydrant operation, and maintain water quality throughout Midland Borough, Shippingport Borough and the parts of Industry we serve.

What to expect

  • Temporary discoloration (rusty or cloudy water) and lower pressure while crews work nearby.
  • If your water is discolored, run a cold water tap for several minutes until it clears. Avoid doing laundry until the water runs clear.
  • Discolored water is not a health hazard, but it can stain fabrics.
Dates and affected streets are posted here and announced before flushing begins. For questions, call the office at 724-643-4920.

Hydrant flushing is performed twice a year, in the spring (April) and fall (October).

Spring 2027: Dates to be determined.
