Fall Hydrant Flushing
Annual fall flushing of the water system
Each fall the Authority flushes fire hydrants throughout the system to clear sediment, confirm hydrants are in working order ahead of winter, and protect water quality for Midland Borough, Shippingport Borough and the parts of Industry we serve.
Fall 2026 Flushing Schedule
Fire hydrant flushing will be performed in the system each of the following days from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.:
- Tuesday, October 6, 2026: 10th St. to 13th St. and all avenues in those blocks

What to expect
- Short periods of discolored water and reduced pressure while crews work on your street.
- Run a cold water tap for several minutes until the water clears before doing laundry.
- Discolored water is not a health hazard, but it can stain fabrics.
Hydrant flushing is performed twice a year, in the spring (April) and fall (October).
